The Chula Vista Art Guild is holding it Annual Spring Community Art Show from May 3 through May 31 at the South Chula Vista Library. The Guild is accepting paintings and drawing for the juried exhibition on May 3 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Both members and non-members 18 years old or older can submit artwork for the show with up to 60 accepted entries to be on display at the library. The show will be open to the public during regular library hours with many works for sale.
On May 17, there will be an awards ceremony and reception from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. Artists are encouraged to bring guests and friends. During the reception awards will be presented for the winning works. First prize is $300. Second is $200. Third prize is $100. Certificates and $25 each will be awarded to two Honorable Mentions.
Examples of last year’s winners of the Community Art Show were: Uwe Warner, first place for “Carpet of Flowers,” Lori Mitchell, 2nd place for “Bakery Boys,” and Helen Beck, third place for “Moon Over the Marina.”
