Scripps Health and insurance agency INSURUS will host a free Covered California education and enrollment event Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 740 Bay Blvd. in Chula Vista.
The event will focus on educating and enrolling eligible residents in Covered California’s health insurance exchange, which is part of national health care reform. Assistance will be provided in English and Spanish. Scripps participates in Covered California through Blue Shield’s PPO plans.
Covered California’s open enrollment period, which runs from Nov. 15 to Feb. 15, allows consumers to enroll in a health plan for the first time, or make changes to their existing coverage, such as switching plans.
Event participants will be able to:
• Meet one-on-one with a certified licensed agent to discuss individual needs
• Learn if they are eligible for a subsidy to lower the cost of their monthly premium
• Get free health screenings and physician referrals.
• Take advantage of free on-site child care.
Those interested in enrolling at the event, should bring these documents:
• 2013 tax return
• California driver’s license or ID
• Social security card
• Current pay stub
• Bank statement
• Green card/residential card
• Certificate of naturalization
