Bon Appetit 2016, the Chula Vista Public Library Foundation’s eighth annual fundraiser is scheduled April 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Salt Creek Recreation Center.
Chula Vista Public Library Director Betty Waznis said the emphasis is on having a fun casual evening at the wine taste and restaurant sampler.
Guests enjoy a silent auction that usually has between 75 and 90 items, a raffle for a $1,000 shopping spree and a live auction for VIP concert ticket packages at Sleep Train Amphitheatre.
“This year a lot of great acts are on the auction block — Journey, Duran Duran, Rascal Flatts and several other big names,” Waznis said.“John Phillips, on-air radio personality with KSDS 88.3 FM, is our popular DJ – he plays a wide variety of music for listening and dancing.”
The event is still adding vendors; those presently signed up include Karina’s, P.F. Chang, Savoie and SoCal Artisan Foods. The Wineries on Highway 94 (www.thewineriesonhighway94.com) is the event’s exclusive wine purveyor, Waznis noted.
Proceeds have helped open the Otay Ranch branch library, and the Hub community space next door, contributed to the renovation of the library auditorium and the Heritage Museum and helped support Sunday hours at the Otay Ranch branch.
Waznis said the venue for the event is a bit “Back to the Future.”
“We hosted the fundraiser at Salt Creek Recreation Center in 2010 and 2011,” she said. “The 2008 inaugural event was at the Montevalle Recreation Center. We’ve been at Otay Ranch mall for 2012 through 2015 and now are back at Salt Creek. So we know it is a beautiful venue that our guests really enjoy.”
Tickets for the 21-and-older event are $40 and can be purchased at any Chula Vista Public Library branch.
