After 141 years, Bonita now has an official song. “Home in Bonita” by 16-year-old singer-songwriter Ella Aldridge was named the Official Song of Bonita by a gathering of community leaders January 25 at the Bonita Museum and Cultural Center. Aldridge will perform the public debut of “Home in Bonita” February 9 at 10 a.m. at the Sweetwater Community Church, 5305 Sweetwater Road. The event is free and open to the public.
Chula Vista Mayor John McCann, former San Diego Symphony Orchestra Conductor Dr. Jahja Ling, former County Supervisor Greg Cox and recording artist Kieler Avery were among the panelists who selected “Home in Bonita” in a unanimous vote.
From lefto to right, Trevor Braaten, Eva Sugapong, Aldridge and Mia Hernandez performed the song for the 40-person panel.
