Chula Vista is hosting Consul General of Mexico in San Diego Ambassador Alicia G. Kerber-Palma for a traditional “El Grito” Mexican Independence Day celebration in downtown Chula Vista on Sept. 15 from 4-8 p.m. in Memorial Park.
This free event features mariachi, ballet folklorico, and Norteño singer Tapy Quintero as San Diego County’s official celebration of Mexican Independence Day.
A variety of vendors will be stationed along Park Way. The “El Grito” ceremony will be performed at 7:30 p.m. It will include a march of flags by students from Tijuana’s Preparatoria Federal Lázaro Cárdenas, Ambassador Kerber-Palma performing “El Grito,” and a performance of the Mexican national anthem.
