Animal shelter wants to clear out

Chula Vista Animal Services is waiving all fees on Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., part of the NBCUniversal Local’s annual nationwide Clear the Shelters campaign. In partnership with NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 San Diego, the event will make pet ownership accessible, inspiring community members to become “shelter heroes” by addressing the ongoing overpopulation at shelters nationwide.

People are invited to meet, and adopt, the 200 animals now in care at the Chula Vista facility, which includes dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits, turtles, and a snake. Adoptable animals have typically received more than $1,000 in medical care each, including vaccinations, microchipping, and spaying or neutering.

An approved adoption application is required and should be completed online prior to the event at www.cvacf.org. The City of Chula Vista is asking the community to help these animals find loving homes. The event also features booths from local animal-related businesses and City departments, providing goodies and resources for new adopters.
Chula Vista Animal Services is located at 130 Beyer Way.
