Mentors planning gift collection

Boys to Men mentoring program is hosting a gift-giving drive through Dec. 15.

Boys to Men is holding its annual gift giving drive from Giving Tuesday (Nov. 28) through Dec. 15, to present a gift to each boy participating in one of the nonprofit’s mentoring circles. B2M serves and supports 659 boys each week, in 30 schools, within 10 school districts across San Diego County. But the need for empathy-centered youth mentoring programs is great: Dozens of schools are on a waiting list to access Boys to Men’s life-changing mentoring program. Hope for the Holidays is an expression of the B2M family’s commitment to giving struggling young men a safe and supportive space to gain the life skills and emotional intelligence to grow into men of passion and purpose, with a heart for giving back to their community.

“Hope for the Holidays’ will spring to life during the week of December 11-15. That’s when Boys to Men Executive Director Rose Courtney and Chief Success Officer Joe Sigurdson, dressed up as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, will lead a troupe of merrymakers in a series of surprise appearances on San Diego County middle and high school campuses, where the boys and their mentors gather weekly in sharing circles. Bearing colorfully wrapped gifts, these ambassadors of holiday hope and cheer will bring the magic of the Hope for the Holidays campaign full-circle: Brightening the lives of underestimated, often fatherless boys, who are showing up weekly and striving daily to become the good men they want to be,” said B2M Program Manager Franco Saavedra in a press release.

To participate in this year’s Hope for the Holidays, San Diegans are invited to visit the B2M Amazon Wish List (https://bit.ly/3G6dB3t) and purchase a new, unwrapped gift for special delivery to the nonprofit’s Spring Valley office, or by donating to the program.
