The day following St. Patrick’s Day—one of the most celebrated events in bars across the country—Chula Vista police will set up a DUI checkpoint somewhere in the city.
“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk. Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety,” according to Agent Brian Carter in a statement from the department.

A DUI checkpoint will be established at an as-of-yet undisclosed location March 18 from 6:30 p.m. – 12 a.m.

Police are required to advise the public of upcoming checkpoint locations on public roadways the day of the planned stops.
Motorists can avoid checkpoints by lawfully obeying traffic laws and circumventing checkpoint queues.
