New homes from $549,500 now selling at Monterey Place

New four-and five-bedroom single family detached homes, priced from $549,500 with no Mello Roos assessments, are selling briskly at Monterey Place in Chula Vista. Located west of I-805 at 267 E. Oxford St., this 23-home enclave features two floor plans ranging from 1,708 to 1,973 square feet with four to five bedrooms, three baths and a two-car garage.

During last month’s grand opening celebration, Chula Vista’s director of economic development praised the project for the quality of construction and size of the homes. “These four-and five-bedroom homes are at a price point $100,000 below the median,” said Eric Crockett.

With home sites averaging 5,000 square feet, homes at Monterey Place are on an elevated cul-de-sac street. Features include Whirlpool stainless appliances, air conditioning, energy efficient amenities, front yard landscaping, and rear and side yard fencing. Now selling in Phase Two, Monterey Place is located in an established neighborhood, convenient to transportation, schools and shopping.

“We need and want this type of quality, eco-friendly infill development to provide new homeownership opportunities for families in Chula Vista,” said Chula Vista Mayor Mary Casillas Salas.

With easy freeway access, Monterey Place is a convenient commute to employment centers in downtown San Diego. Situated on a four-acre parcel in the middle of a well-established neighborhood, residents can send their children to local schools, including Kellogg Elementary School, Leonardo da Vinci Health Sciences Charter School, Hilltop Middle School and Hilltop High School.

Monterey Place was designed in Spanish and Monterey styling by noted San Diego architect Kirk McKinley.

“Homebuyers in our first two phases tell us that they want the benefits and efficiencies of a new home in a comfortable, established neighborhood where services are already in place,” said Nicholas P. Wilson, chief operating office of the Douglas Wilson Cos. (DWC), the managing partner of Monterey Place LLC. “These are the only new single-family detached homes to be under construction in this part of Chula Vista.”

Monterey Place LLC Managing Partner Douglas Wilson Cos. is a leading real estate development firm in San Diego, with a strong track record in downtown redevelopment including the Symphony Towers 1.2 million-square-foot mixed-use complex and two pioneering residential buildings near Petco Park, The Mark and Parkloft.  DWC is now bringing that expertise to Chula Vista, the second largest city in San Diego County.
