The countdown for New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, is at high noon at the Chula Vista library. Geared toward kids who might struggle to stay awake until midnight, this celebration includes a balloon drop, a new year’s resolution board, songs, and crafts.
“This is our third one, it’s fun because this is something our families can do,” said Joy Whatley, city librarian. “Last year we had 80. It’s for parents and kids.”
Unlike the standard adult New Year’s Eve resolutions such as losing weight, a youngster’s resolution might be “Get better at math.”
“They make their own 2019 crown and a fireworks party shaker,” she said. “There will also be a photo booth.”
Mi memoria favorita en Chula Vista este ano fue or my favorite Chula Vista memory this year story board has included “the lemon festival” previously according Whatley. In addition to the kids’ favorite Chula Vista memory board, other boards have included one word to describe this year, and the biggest lesson I learned this year. “I learned soccer,” was one lesson posted last year.
The celebration runs from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., in the children’s room. The library is located at 365 F Street. No food or drink will be offered.
