A consortium of South Bay community and business leaders have created a task force with the goal of promoting the craft beer industry in National City.
South Bay Craft Coalition reportedly includes members of the National City Chamber of Commerce, members of the city’s economic development team, real estate experts and craft beer entrepreneurs.
“We are continuing to build National City as a place that attracts the creative energy and optimism of young professionals and lets them know they have an important stake in the city’s future,” said Jacqueline Reynoso, CEO of the National City Chamber of Commerce in a statement.
A recently passed ordinance allows brewers who produce less than 60,000 barrels per year to open “by right” in a mixed-use zone without having to acquire a conditional use permit.
City officials will be hosting an Economic Development National City Real Estate Roundtable, to hear the city’s business recruitment strategy.
The task force also plans to continue Bayside Brew and Spirits Festival, which debuted last fall in Pepper Park on San Diego Bay.
The event attracted about 40 brewers from both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border.
The roundtable is open to the public and will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Feb. 27 at the National City Aquatic Center 3300 Goesno Place.
