A Chula Vista woman pleaded guilty July 18 to attempted murder of an acquaintance who was stabbed in the neck in his El Cajon home.
Lymarie Rodriguez, 30, could get up to 10 years in state prison, said Deputy District Attorney Nicole Roth. Sentencing is set for Sept. 24 before El Cajon Superior Court Judge John Thompson.
Roth said the victim, Demetri Jordan, Jr., has “recovered well” from his injury which occurred on July 11, 2013, at 2:10 a.m. in his home on Buckeye Drive. Jordan was stabbed at the base of his neck and his wound was serious at the time.
After El Cajon Police arrived, Rodriguez was also taken to the hospital for a minor stab wound. Rodriguez and Jordan had met while they were both in the Navy, but they were not in a relationship or dating each other.
Rodriguez was to have stood trial July 21 on a charge of pre-meditated attempted murder, which carries a life term.
The pre-meditation charge was dropped.
Jordan identified her as his assailant at the Aug. 12 preliminary hearing when she was ordered to stand trial. Rodriguez remains in the Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility without bail.
