The wins keep piling up for the Olympian Eagles, who have garnered respect as the No. 2-ranked team among the San Diego Section’s Division IV schools. The Eagles improved to 5-1 after last Friday’s 52-8 non-league victory against the visiting San Ysidro Cougars.
Alex Cornist touched the ball just twice in the backfield but scored two touchdowns on runs of 35 and six yards. Rickey Srandard carried the ball nine times for 107 yards and also scored two rushing touchdowns. Srandard scored his first touchdown on a five-yard run and later closed out scoring in the game on a 40-yard jaunt.
Five players scored touchdowns for Olympian. Besides Cornist and Srandard, Andrell Snowden (32 yards) and Randy Jones (22 yards) both scored on interception returns while Kevun Ehm opened scoring in the game on a three-yard run.
Jovan Gonzalez kicked a 42-yard field goal while also booting seven PAT conversions.
The Eagles rolled up 373 total yards in offense, including 329 rushing yards.
Jose Estrada rushed 10 times for 57 yards while Dre Gibson rushed six times for 46 yards and Akeem Foxworth had seven carries for 42 yards.
Quarterback Cobrin Humphrey completed three of four passes for 44 yards.
The Olympian defense had three interceptions — one each by Ehm, Santana Leomiti and Jones — and held San Ysidro to 58 net rushing yards on 19 attempts and 61 passing yards.
David Vega completed six of 14 passing attempts for 41 yards while rushing 16 times for 63 yards and a nine-yard score.
Omar Rios led the Cougars with 10 tackles, including a pair of sacks.
