The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a possible homicide that took place early Friday morning in the 5080 block of Bonita Road off Central Avenue and Bonita Road in Bonita.
Sheriff’s deputies and paramedics responded to a call around 4 a.m., after a passerby reported that a man’s body was lying on the ground in a pool of blood.
The victim was described as an adult male approximately 30 to 40 years old and of Hispanic descent who suffered from a traumatic head injury. The deceased was lying face up and without a shirt.
Lt. Dennis Brugos of San Diego Sheriff’s Department said he and other investigators arrived on the scene and attempted to resuscitate the victim who was lying next to a gold-colored Lexus, but was unsuccessful. The man was pronounced dead around 4:20 a.m.
Nancy Thompson, 36, works at Bonita Corral Feed and Tack. Thompson said she has seen the Lexus in the parking lot most mornings as she came to work. Thompson said it could be possible that the fatality is related to nearby bar Club Caribe. She said she saw a Caribe security guard talking to sheriffs.
Club Caribe has a ladies night called “touch me Thursdays,” which other business owners say is the cause for many late night arguments and altercations. Thompson and Bob Seelos, a State Farm insurance agent, said many Friday mornings the parking lot is littered with condoms.
