Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente’s downfall continues as the team has lost their first two games of the season.
Friday night in their home opener against Dorados the Xolos could not hold a one-goal advantage and ended up losing 2-1.
In the opening minutes the visiting team, which are also owned by Grupo Caliente, took possession of the ball and created several opportunities but failed to take an early lead.
In the 22nd minute forward Dayro Moreno benefited from an exceptional pass from forward Henry Martin. He then sent a forceful shot past goalkeeper Luis Michel to open the score 1-0.
In the following minutes the Xolos were close to scoring again, when Moreno made another shot at goal from outside the box however, it slightly missed Michel’s goal.
Martin also developed another dangerous threat before the 1st half was over, yet no attacker was in the area to push the ball into the net.
In the second half Dorados showed more commitment to winning the game and in the 55th minute Xolos goalkeeper gave the opponents a complimentary corner kick, then they tied the game when defender Mauricio Romero sent a formidable header between two defenders to make it 1-1.
The visitors kept on attacking and in the 71st minute got fortunate when a Xolos defender deflection ended up on forward Roberto Nurse’s head, who then assisted striker Hector Mancilla.
Tijuana’s team made several adjustments however they did not have any luck finding the equalizer. In the last play of the game newcomer Michael Orozco sent a header that was directed to the opposing goal but forgotten hero Fernando Arce who now plays for Dorados stopped the ball from going in.
The Xolos find themselves in a critical situation because they have not earned a point and currently sit in last place. It is now time for new coach Ruben Omar Romano to refine Tijuana’s defense and start earning points if not he could find himself dismiss early in the campaign.
